What is PUBG: DED.NET?

PUBG: DED.NET is a standalone multiplayer shooter in the PUBG universe. Developer PUBG Madison mixes first-person combat with a roguelite structure: a character's story does not necessarily end with defeat in a single match. KRAFTON is publishing the title; a finished version has not yet been released.

The game moves away from the classic idea of a single battle royale round. One run links several fights, while resources, conditions and new abilities you find change later decisions. The official pages do not yet fully explain how much progress is kept permanently between completed runs.

Release

The title was revealed in August 2026. No firm release date for the finished game has yet been listed on Steam, PlayStation or Xbox. The first closed test started on Oct 9, 2026 and ends on Oct 12. KRAFTON is only letting selected testers play on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for this.

This time-limited and region-limited beta access is not a general release and says nothing about a specific release date in Germany. There is no binding plan yet for the upcoming test phases or the market launch.

Platforms

Native versions for PC (Windows), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed by separate store listings. The PS5 page mentions up to 60 online players, the Xbox page a multiplayer scope of 40 to 60 players and Series X|S optimisation. Steam lists Windows 11 in the PC requirements.

The first console test is only open to the USA and Canada. Registering from other regions therefore does not yet grant test access. The confirmed stores also give no launch date for the full version. Older consoles, Nintendo platforms, macOS and Linux must not be inferred from the available information.

Gameplay

DED.NET focuses on online battles with your own equipment and character choices. On the official Steam page, the team names unusual tools such as car doors as mobile shields, faking your own death, or manipulating phones to take money from rivals.

Tools like these extend combat beyond simply aiming and shooting. Their effectiveness cannot yet be judged on the basis of a generally available full version. The actions shown so far are announced game elements, not an independent hands-on test.

How the roguelite structure works

An important distinction is between Match and Run. While individual fights can be lost, collected items and character development are meant to influence the further course of a multi-part run. The developers also speak of ability combinations and injuries that force new tactical decisions.

This makes the question of what you take from a fight part of your planning. Official detailed rules on losing individual items, fully resetting a run and long-term meta progression are still pending.

Online battles and groups

The game is designed as an online PvP shooter. The platform stores mention multiplayer matches with up to 60 players; Xbox currently specifies the scope as 40 to 60. According to KRAFTON, the first beta test allows selected participants to invite friends into groups.

Whether and how solo play, fixed squads and the various game modes will be handled in the final version has not yet been fully disclosed. The store information mainly confirms the planned multiplayer scope, not every later mode.

Cascadia in 1996

The setting is a gloomily distorted Cascadia in the northwestern USA of the 1990s. KRAFTON blends the grunge culture of that era with occultism and body horror. Rather than a sober military simulation, the game world presents striking characters, grotesque dangers and locations such as the officially shown Cryptid Cove.

The setting provides the framework for the different combat styles. A completed single-player story or a traditional campaign mode has not been confirmed so far.

Languages and controls

Steam currently lists English UI and English subtitles, but no full English voice audio in its language table. German is not listed there as a supported language. The PS5 Store page mentions the online requirement and DualSense controller features; there is no information about a German localisation.

Game series

KRAFTON explicitly uses the PUBG brand for DED.NET. However, the technically independent game versions do not represent a new area or game mode of PUBG: Battlegrounds. Rather, PUBG Madison is testing its own combat system with ongoing character development, a grunge backdrop and grotesque horror aesthetics.

Shared progress with Battlegrounds or a transfer of existing inventories has not been announced.
