What is Quarantine Zone: The Last Check?

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is a single-player simulation by Brigada Games about running a checkpoint in a city hit by an epidemic. Newcomers are examined and, based on the results, admitted, held for observation or turned away. Between checks, you must keep the outpost supplied and defended.

The publisher is Devolver Digital. Since October 2026, the free expansion Miami Zero has added a new campaign that goes back to the origin of the epidemic. The expansion belongs to the base game and is not a second standalone title.

Gameplay

Checkpoint work consists of spotting irregularities, using different screening tools and deciding on the next step. People with unclear results can first be sent to observation or for further analysis. In addition, they are searched for banned items.

As occupancy grows, so does responsibility for the outpost. Players manage basic supplies and infrastructure and unlock new examination or protection options. As a result, screening, resource management and decision-making are closely linked.

DLCs and expansions

The free expansion Miami Zero adds a second, standalone campaign within the main game. It starts at the beginning of the outbreak in Miami and introduces new inspection tasks, research, characters and a long-term goal: repairing a yacht for evacuation.

In addition, there is a dynamic weather system and additional locations. Other add-on products offered in the Steam store are the soundtrack and a cosmetic Supporter Pack. These separate products should not be confused with Miami Zero.

System requirements

Steam's minimum Windows requirements are Windows 10 (64-bit), Intel Core i7-5820K or AMD FX-8370, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 980, Radeon RX 470 or Intel Arc A380. DirectX 12 and 12 GB of free storage are also listed. The developer's figures target 1080p with low details and more than 30 FPS.

As a recommendation, the store lists Windows 11 (64-bit), Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 5 5600X, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 2080 or Radeon RX 5700. This aims for high detail at 1080p and 60 FPS. These are not Gameforest's own performance measurements.

The details apply to pc.

Checks, results and quarantine

Individual inspection is the core gameplay loop. Various inspection tools are meant to help detect signs of infection and prohibited items. Not every irregularity is a clear result. As the station's head, players must therefore decide between immediate admission, observation and further examination.

Miami Zero adds new symptoms and more types of smuggled goods. This gives the familiar tools additional uses, and players must consider different clues than in the first campaign.

Camp management and evacuation

People taken in need food, power and medical care. Available resources must be split between housing, inspections and security. New tools and upgrades expand what the camp can do; conversely, shortages of resources and space limit how you handle incoming groups.

In Miami Zero, the long-term repair of a yacht adds to camp planning. The ship is part of the new campaign's story and serves as a possible evacuation destination. This is a new task, not a general mechanic from the original campaign.

Research and base defense

Unclear health results lead to lab analyses in the game. Research, samples and new equipment form a progress track linked to the gate inspections. The simulation places camp safety and the fate of individual people in conflicting demands.

During attacks, armed drones can be deployed to defend the grounds. Miami Zero adds a research center with more experiments and new results. The campaign ties these features to the spread of the disease at its source.

Miami Zero: Return to the Origin of the Epidemic

Miami Zero tells a new campaign set before the original game. Instead of the familiar main base, the focus is a makeshift checkpoint on the coast of Miami. Locations include streets, harbor areas and a zone previously planned as a festival site. The story links the early days of the outbreak with new testing and research tasks.

Brigada Games cites over 30 additional individually designed people, new inspection features and a dynamic weather system with changing conditions. The new tasks also include preparing a ship that could bring people out of the city. These systems remain part of the free additional campaign.

Game mode, language and accessibility

The game is listed as a single-player simulation. The PC version supports Steam achievements, cloud saves and controllers. For Xbox Series, achievements, cloud saving and Xbox Play Anywhere are also listed.

German is offered on Steam for the interface and subtitles, but not for full voice acting. The store lists full voice acting in English and Russian. Microsoft lists five accessibility features without describing them individually in the short overview checked here. Details on specific aids therefore remain open.

Developer, publisher and product scope

Brigada Games is the developer, Devolver Digital the publisher. The game was first released as a Windows title and later expanded with a native Xbox Series version. Defining features are checkpoint inspections, camp management and the consequences of decisions.

Miami Zero is expansion content for the same title. Separately listed cosmetic extras and the soundtrack on Steam, by contrast, are standalone add-on products. A subscription, a PC key or an Xbox version each come with different purchase or access terms; current offers therefore do not belong in the permanent game profile.
