Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is a free multiplayer arena shooter for smartphones and tablets. The characters come from the Ratchet-&-Clank series universe. Players take part in short real-time battles, use different weapons and employ special abilities of their chosen heroes.

In the game, Captain Qwark has set up a combat simulation to train new Galactic Rangers. The French studio Oh Bibi developed the spin-off in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games.

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble initially launched in selected regions for iOS and Android. On Nov 6, 2026, Oh Bibi announced the end of development.

On Nov 21, 2026, the game disappears from the App Store and Google Play. On May 1, 2027, the servers will be shut down. After that, the game can no longer be launched.

Ranger Rumble was released as a mobile game for iOS and Android. It was regionally tested in Canada, parts of Northern Europe, France and Asia, among others. Registration before the planned global launch was possible in other countries.

The game was not a native PS4 or PS5 release. The involvement of PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games changes nothing about that.

Ranger Rumble combines the weapons and agile characters of the series with fast battles from a third-person perspective. Each hero brings their own abilities and playstyle. Enemies can be pressured with direct weapon fire as well as with skillful movement through the arenas.

Battles include encounters between players and additional computer-controlled opponents. Which tactics work depends on the chosen mode and team composition.

The game modes presented include team-based PvP battles, fights against enemy waves, a mode influenced by battle royale and an armed football game. Oh Bibi had announced six game modes for the global release.

According to the developer, the modes already available in regional versions, player matchmaking and competitive features remain accessible until shutdown on May 1, 2027.

The hero selection draws on the humor and fantastical weapons of Ratchet & Clank. The characters include robots, aliens and new Lombaxes. Oh Bibi worked with Insomniac Games on the look and backstories.

Before the planned global launch, the studio had announced twelve heroes. In addition, cosmetic customization and individual abilities were meant to set the characters apart.

From Nov 21, 2026 Ranger Rumble can no longer be newly downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Versions already installed remain playable until May 1, 2027, provided the servers are reachable.

On May 1, 2027 Oh Bibi will permanently discontinue the online service. Without the servers, the game will no longer start. All player data stored on the servers will be deleted when they shut down.

Players can use their existing rewards and balances until the end of service. The free Super Pass and ongoing Qwark Pass seasons are meant to remain accessible until shutdown. New in-app purchases are no longer possible.

Progress, unlocked items and purchases cannot be transferred to other games. For possible refunds, Oh Bibi refers to Apple or Google as the responsible store operators.

Captain Qwark wants to use a virtual arena to recruit new members for the Galactic Rangers. The training battles frame the different game modes and new characters, which draw on familiar motifs from the series.

The sets and exaggerated weapons are meant to bring the action of console games to short mobile matches.
