Sail Forth

Sail Forth is a sailing action adventure from Festive Vector. Players explore the Deepblue, build a fleet of different ships and combine navigation, exploration, treasure hunting and sea battles.

The world consists of numerous islands and regions, each with its own inhabitants, tasks and dangers. Wind, sail trim and waves affect the voyage without turning the game into a strict sailing simulation.

Sail Forth was released on Dec 21, 2022 for PC and several consoles. A native Nintendo Switch 2 version followed in 2026.

The Switch 2 Edition improves resolution, frame rate and loading times, among other things, and can show more boats at once. Nintendo lists Jan 26, 2026 as the release date for Europe.

Native versions are available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC, Windows, macOS and Linux or SteamOS are supported.

The Switch 2 Edition is a separate native version. Nintendo cites 1080p in handheld mode, 4K in TV mode, a higher frame rate, shorter loading times, water reflections and other visual improvements.

The sailing system takes wind direction, sail trim and manoeuvres such as tacking and gybing into account, but deliberately stays accessible. Ships can be bought, equipped, upgraded and specialised for different tasks.

Exploration takes you through dozens of regions with islands, flora, fauna and different factions. Sea battles, fishing, treasure hunting, races, photography and smaller side activities complement the main journey. In Free Sail mode, free exploration is the focus.

Maelstrom is the major paid expansion for Sail Forth. It was released on Jan 10, 2024 and opens whirlpools as entrances to a new underworld area.

There you'll find new enemies, the Arcane Order, Maelstrom Pearls as a separate reward currency and additional ship cosmetics. The expansion requires the base game.

On Windows, Steam lists at least Windows 7, an Intel i5 at 2.3 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, DirectX 9 and 300 MB of free storage. Recommended are Windows 10, an Intel i7 at 2.3 GHz, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GT 750m.

For macOS and Linux or SteamOS, Steam lists its own requirements.
