Gameplay
Core Values builds a separate underground factory network. Pioneers tap new resources, research new production lines and buildings, and explore cavernous biomes with their own flora, fauna, and passive and hostile creatures.
After unlocking, you can switch between the surface and the underground. Coffee Stain positions the expansion not just as a new location, but as its own production and exploration branch within the same save game.

Progress and integration into the main game
The DLC unlocks after Tier 3 of HUB research and building the Space Elevator. After that, players can switch between the main story and the Core Values story at their own pace.
The underground has its own research, buildings and production lines, but remains embedded in the same save game. This is meant to ensure that even a very advanced surface save does not fully anticipate the new challenges.

Logistics and cave building
The caves' limited geometry is set to noticeably change logistics. In a developer interview, Coffee Stain describes the size of the caves itself as a central design problem: they have to offer enough space for creative factories, yet stay narrow enough that the underground plays differently from the open surface.
Conveyor belts do not disappear, but in Core Values they are supposed to be far less universally usable. Instead, new logistics tools are planned to connect production buildings sensibly despite the spatial constraints of the caves.

Game series
Core Values is not a standalone sequel but a major expansion to Satisfactory. Coffee Stain Studios develops the DLC itself; Coffee Stain Publishing releases it. The base game remains a requirement and, according to the studio, will continue to be supported in parallel.
