What is SAW: Genesis?
SAW: Genesis is an asymmetric multiplayer horror game in a 3-vs-1 format. Three players take on the roles of the Accused and try to escape a trap labyrinth together. The fourth player plays the Judge, who controls the trials from behind the scenes. The story is set after World War I and therefore long before the well-known events of the film series.
The game is being developed by Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios and published by Bloober Team.

Gameplay
Each match pits one Judge against three Accused. The cards are built procedurally, so routes, keys and hazards can't simply be memorised. The Accused must solve tasks, find items and work together before time runs out.
The Judge controls the match through traps, hidden paths and specialised tools, but is not designed as an invulnerable opponent. Good coordination can give the three Accused ways to fight back. Choices made during the trials can also have noticeable consequences for the ongoing match, for example for mobility or interactions.
Short, repeatable matches with different Judges, Accused, perks and traps are planned. For the full version later on, the team names a larger pool of characters and maps as the goal.

Game series
SAW: Genesis is not a direct retelling of a film. The story is set roughly a century before the known Saw events. It centres on an early Judge whose idea of “rehabilitation” is later described as a precursor to the Jigsaw concept. The game uses the Saw licence from Lionsgate and combines the familiar moral choices and traps with a multiplayer structure.
