What is Seafarer: The Ship Sim?

Seafarer: The Ship Sim is a maritime open-world simulation from astragon Development. Instead of racing or combat, the game focuses on work and everyday life at sea: you steer different ships, build your reputation in various ports and take on missions from cargo transport to rescue and firefighting operations.

The game world is inspired by Northern Europe. Depending on the task, you work with freighters, tankers, smaller work boats and specialized tools such as cranes, water cannons, drones and rescue equipment.

Gameplay

The focus is on accessible ship controls and an open maritime game world. You transport containers, bulk goods and LNG, respond to distress calls, fight fires, patrol coastal sections and carry out other dynamic missions.

Missions raise your reputation, open up new opportunities and expand your fleet. Along with navigation, shipboard work is also part of it: operating cranes, deploying equipment, adjusting ships and reacting to weather, currents or unexpected events.

Water, weather and technology

The open sea reacts to dynamic weather, time of day and ocean currents. For visuals and wave simulation, Seafarer uses Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0. This means the environment affects not only the look but also the navigation and atmosphere of every voyage.
