Selaco is a sci-fi first-person shooter from Altered Orbit Studios. Security chief Dawn Collins investigates the past of a huge space station where survivors found refuge after the fall of Earth. During her investigation, armed attackers storm the station.

The game combines fast-paced gunfights with a connected campaign world. Rooms can be searched, paths lead back to previously visited areas, and many objects react to gunfire.

Gameplay

In the campaign, Dawn Collins explores offices, industrial facilities, service corridors and other parts of the space station. Combat alternates with searching for hidden rooms, resources and access points. The levels are interconnected and rely on orientation rather than a simple sequence of closed arenas.

Movement and positioning are important: Dawn can attack quickly from cover and slide through firefights. Environmental objects, furniture and glass panes are damaged or destroyed by gunfire.

Enemies and combat tactics

The enemies work in groups, use cover and try to flank Dawn or pin her down with sustained fire. Their radio messages and calls give hints about the situation in combat.

The Machines of War adds new enemy types such as Skirmishers, Tanks and Incinerators. The studio also announces a fundamentally reworked AI system with patrols and a new rally system. This is meant to let Dawn initiate more fights herself.
