Gameplay

The focus is on precise jumps, fights with different weapons and exploring hidden paths. Treasure pays for upgrades to your equipment. Each campaign changes the movements and attacks of its main character, rather than repeating the same levels unchanged.

Shovel of Hope: The original adventure

Shovel Knight takes his shovel blade into battle against the Order of No Quarter and its leader, the Enchantress. The campaign combines side-scrolling levels with boss fights, secret treasures and upgradable equipment. In co-op, two people can play the story together wherever the platform supports this feature.

Plague of Shadows: Bombs instead of a shovel

Plague Knight uses self-assembled bombs and alchemical abilities. This changes attacks and movement noticeably and gives familiar locations a different rhythm. New encounters and their own stories are also part of his campaign.

Specter of Torment: Through the levels with a scythe

Specter Knight moves through sections designed for him using wall runs and quick attacks. His adventure tells the character's backstory and the rise of the Order of No Quarter. Rather than copying the rules of Shovel Knight, it demands a different style of movement.

Shovel Knight comes from the US studio Yacht Club Games, which developed and published the collection itself. The four campaigns tell different sides of the same world. Later spin-offs such as Shovel Knight Dig and Pocket Dungeon are standalone games, not additional chapters of Treasure Trove.
