Star Fox

Star Fox is Nintendo's reimagining of Lylat Wars or Star Fox 64 for Nintendo Switch 2. Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare fight against Andross and his forces in the Lylat System.

The remaster combines the original's branching campaign structure with new cutscenes, fully voiced story, orchestral music and a completely reworked presentation.

Star Fox was released on June 25, 2026 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo offers the game digitally and physically; a free demo is also available.

Star Fox is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The campaign supports single players and a local co-op mode for two people; Battle Mode uses local and online features.

The campaign takes you through the Lylat System and features air battles with the Arwing, boss fights and changing vehicles such as the Landmaster and Blue Marine. Completed mission objectives can change the route through the system, opening different paths through the story.

Alongside classic button controls, the new version supports a mouse aiming mode with Joy-Con 2. In local co-op, one player can pilot while the second handles aiming.

Battle Mode focuses on team-based air battles between Star Fox and Star Wolf. Since the free update on September 30, 2026, up to four people can play together on a single Nintendo Switch 2 via split-screen or take part in online battles as a team.

The update also adds the three Battle Mode stages Katina, Sector X and Venom, as well as new items. Katina revolves around controlling a powerful laser, in Sector X you must survive asteroids and energy waves, and on Venom it's about scanning data modules before a deadly wave.
