What is Sugar Lies?
Sugar Lies is a short romantic visual novel by Team S:OWLS and KOGADO STUDIO. The story centers on Akito Nagatsuki, a young man who rejects lies and acting so strongly that they physically make him sick. Yui Sakuramiya, who spends her life perfectly meeting others' expectations, becomes the most important encounter of his summer.
The story focuses on Akito, Yui and Akito's long-time girlfriend Akari Yukihira. Instead of a large RPG system, the focus is on a compact, character-driven summer story about self-presentation, honesty and closeness.

Release
The PC version of Sugar Lies is due late 2026 on Steam. The Nintendo Switch version follows in spring 2027. For the TGS appearance on Sept 18, 2026, KOGADO STUDIO also released the opening video with the title song True or Lies.

Platforms
Confirmed are PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. The PC version comes first; the Switch version follows in spring 2027. Sugar Lies supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The Japanese voice acting is part of the PC version.

Gameplay
Sugar Lies is a classic text- and choice-driven visual novel. The focus is on dialogue, character relationships and the question of what lies behind the roles people play for others. The game is designed as a comparatively short summer story and relies more on emotional character development than on complex game systems.
The two central heroines, Yui Sakuramiya and Akari Yukihira, are voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa and Hikaru Iida. Both also sing the opening True or Lies, which was released on Sept 18, 2026, as part of the Tokyo Game Show.
