What is Supermarket Simulator?

Supermarket Simulator is a first-person business simulation in which you run your own grocery store. Instead of just managing figures, you unpack deliveries yourself, arrange products on shelves and work at the checkout.

With the earnings you can grow a small shop into a bigger market with staff, storage and additional equipment.

Gameplay

A typical workday starts with restocking the range. Boxes are delivered, goods are sorted in storage and then distributed to shelves, chillers and freezers. At the checkout you scan purchases and process cash or card payments.

As the business grows, staff can take over parts of this work. This gradually shifts the focus from doing it yourself to organizing.

Prices, buying and profit

You set the selling prices yourself. If you sell too expensively, you risk unhappy customers. Margins that are too tight, on the other hand, make new purchases harder. Buying stock is therefore just as important as deciding which products get how much space.

The market changes purchasing terms. Cheap offers open up room in your calculations, but initially cost money and storage space.

Expand and design the supermarket

As profits grow, you can expand sales space, storage capacity and fittings. Floors, wall colors and signage can be customized. At the same time, the design has a practical purpose: sensibly placed goods and clear paths make the workflow between restocking and checkout easier.

Can you play Supermarket Simulator together?

Yes, up to four people can run a market together online. In co-op the group divides tasks such as stocking shelves, checkout, cleaning, delivery runs and pricing. The game idea stays the same as in single player, but several people can manage different areas of the business at the same time.

The Xbox Store lists online co-op for two to four players for its version.

Online orders and delivery runs

Customers can also order online. These orders are put together in the store, packed and delivered. To restock, the game offers, besides ordering on the computer, the option to drive to local markets and buy goods there.

So administration isn't limited to the sales floor and checkout: transport and stock management are also part of the daily business.

Theft and cleanliness

Shoplifting is one of the ongoing challenges. Cameras, alarm systems and security staff help limit losses. You also have to clean floors and windows and dispose of waste. If you expand the store, you therefore also have to organize extra tasks around security and upkeep.
