What is The Binding of Isaac: Repentance?

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance is the major expansion of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. It adds a complete alternative path, new chapters and endings, and numerous new characters, enemies, bosses, items and room variants.

The core principle remains an action-oriented roguelike dungeon crawler with randomly generated rooms and items that combine in many ways.

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance released on Mar 31, 2021 for PC. The versions for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch followed in Nov 2021. Repentance+ added online co-op for up to four people to the PC game on Nov 18, 2024.

Repentance+ Online releases on Nov 19, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The complete edition combines Rebirth and all expansions with online co-op. For Switch 2, a physical edition is announced alongside the digital one.

Repentance is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The original console versions date from 2021. On PC, the expansion requires Rebirth and the previous DLCs.

Repentance+ Online releases on Nov 19, 2026 as a standalone complete edition for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The new editions include online co-op for up to four players. They are to be distinguished from the older Repentance versions. Repentance+ has existed on PC since Nov 2024 as a free additional DLC.

Gameplay

Repentance expands the well-known roguelike with an alternative path, new chapters, additional endings, more than 130 new items, new characters, over 100 enemies, more than 25 bosses and thousands of additional room layouts.

The game remains an action-oriented dungeon crawler with twin-stick controls, permanent unlock progression and randomly generated runs. Item synergies often fundamentally change attacks, movement and passive effects.

Repentance expands The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth with additional paths, enemies, bosses, characters and items. On PC, the DLC requires the previous expansions.

Repentance+ released on Nov 18, 2024 as a free additional PC DLC with online co-op, new online achievements and game adjustments. Repentance+ Online bundles Rebirth and all expansions for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 from Nov 19, 2026. The Switch 2 version is also released as a physical game card.

System requirements

On PC, Repentance lists Windows 10, a Core i7 processor, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce 900 Series graphics card and around 666 MB of free storage as the minimum. Recommended are Windows 10, a Core i9 and 8 GB RAM.

For its additional online expansion, Repentance+ also lists Windows 10 and 4 GB RAM as the minimum, with 8 GB RAM recommended, plus around 2 GB of free storage.

Repentance+: Online co-op

Repentance+ brings co-op runs with up to four players online. On PC, this includes public and private games, an emote wheel and a choice of different game modes. Daily Runs and Greed mode are also supported.

The complete editions releasing on Nov 19, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 also offer shared online co-op for four players. They add matchmaking filters, communication features, online leaderboards and descriptions of already discovered items. Cross-platform play between the different platforms is not promised.
