What is The End of the Sun?

The End of the Sun is a single-player adventure set in a world inspired by Slavic mythology. As the fire mage Ashter, you follow the trail of a supernatural being to a seemingly abandoned village. Gameplay

Exploration takes you freely through the village and its surroundings. A magical map shows important places, while fire pits reveal hidden traces and memories. Instead of combat, the game focuses mainly on observation, combining clues and understanding the fates of individual villagers.

Many tasks come from everyday objects: for example, historical tools must be examined and used correctly.

Time travel between four seasons

Lit fire pits connect four seasons from different years. If you enter a hut in one time period, you may find it changed later. In this way, buildings, objects and people tell their stories across longer periods. Actions can leave traces in other time layers.

Puzzles with historical tools

Tasks include examining a hand mill, whose parts must be put together correctly. Rope tools and knife-sharpening devices also play a role. Optional info points explain the origin and function of such objects. The objects therefore serve not only as scenery but become part of the puzzles.

Village houses and objects from Polish museums

The game world is largely based on historical models captured through photography. The development team worked with the Szymbark open-air museum and the ethnographic museum Grociarnia in Jastrzębia. Photogrammetry was used to create digital models of hundreds of objects and entire buildings.

According to the studio, around 80 percent of the objects in the game world are based on real-world models. These include tools, furnishings and facades.

Natural landscapes, interiors and everyday objects draw on traditional forms. The studio also recorded natural sounds from different seasons to build into the game world.
