The original came out in Japan in 2012. The international PC version was released on Steam on May 13, 2016. The expanded edition came out in North America for PS Vita and PS4 in 2019, and the European Switch version was released on Apr 9, 2021. The Crunchyroll version for iOS followed on Mar 26, 2025.

DLCs and expansions

"A Requiem for Innocence" tells the prequel to the events in the mansion and is a standalone game on PC. The console collection "Dreams of the Revenants Edition" additionally includes "Reincarnation", short stories, an image gallery and a music section. On Steam there is also the original soundtrack, an artbook and a concert recording as separate add-on products.

Multiple eras, one connected story

The story jumps between eras and initially separate fates. Themes such as guilt, violence, love and memory connect the storylines. The common thread only becomes visible when the stories are viewed from several perspectives.

What's included in Dreams of the Revenants Edition?

The collection brings together the main game, the prequel "A Requiem for Innocence", "Reincarnation" and additional short stories. The revised version offers new and restored illustrations as well as an adjusted user interface. The Reincarnation episode has voice acting. The Switch version has the same content as the PS4 release.

The visual novel combines hand-drawn illustrations with an extensive soundtrack. NOVECT lists 65 music tracks for the original game. In the expanded console version, images and music can also be viewed in separate galleries.

Playtime and replay value

NOVECT puts the length of the original story at roughly 20 to 25 hours. If you want to see more endings and side stories, you can spend extra time at the mansion afterwards. The console version includes more story content.

Single player and controls

The House in Fata Morgana is a single-player visual novel. On Switch, you can play it in TV, tabletop or handheld mode. Nintendo also mentions touchscreen support and cloud saves for the Switch version.
