What is The Jackbox Party Pack 9?

The Jackbox Party Pack 9 brings five party games together in one collection: Fibbage 4, Quixort, Junktopia, Nonsensory and Roomerang. The group looks at a shared screen and uses smartphones, tablets or computer browsers to answer, draw or vote.

Depending on the game, one to ten people take part. Instead of the same rules throughout, each round offers its own mix of bluffing, knowledge, creativity and role-play comedy. Play times are roughly 20 to 30 minutes.

Fibbage 4: believable lies instead of correct answers

Fibbage 4 is a bluffing game for two to eight players. Participants write believable-sounding fake answers to unusual questions. Points are awarded both for spotting the truth and for tricking others with your own fib.

New features include video questions and another variant of the game. The questions and lies appear on the main screen, and voting is done on your own device.

Quixort: put answers in the right order

In Quixort, up to ten players arrange answers on a scale or in the correct order. Terms drop from above as blocks into a kind of sorting machine. The team has to decide where they belong before the arrangement falls apart.

This mode can also be played alone. The task then is to sort as many answers correctly, one after another, as possible.

Junktopia: sell junk with a good story

Junktopia is for three to eight players. A wizard turns the participants into frogs, who must break their curse by trading strange finds. To do so, they invent stories and sales pitches that make ordinary objects seem as valuable as possible.

The group votes on the most convincing pitches. Creativity and humour matter more than factual knowledge.

Nonsensory: guess the absurd scales

Nonsensory combines drawing, writing and estimating for three to eight people. One player gets an unusual term or task and has to create something that sits at a certain point on an absurd scale.

The others try to work out where the answer falls between the two endpoints. Whoever better judges the tone or the drawing of the other player earns points.

Roomerang: reality show with roles and votes

Roomerang has four to nine players act as characters in a fictional reality show. Across several rounds, they react to tasks from within their roles, compete for the group's attention and vote out other players from the competition.

Being voted out does not necessarily mean being eliminated for good, though. Characters can return to the story and bring new twists and further conflicts.

How many people can play?

Depending on the mini-game, the cast ranges from one to ten people. Fibbage 4 is designed for two to eight players, Quixort for one to ten, Junktopia and Nonsensory for three to eight each, and Roomerang for four to nine.

In several games, an additional audience can guess and vote. Jackbox Games says up to 10,000 people can join in audience mode. Not every round offers the same ways to influence the result.

Play together, including over a stream

For a round over the internet, only the person starting the game needs to share the main screen. Everyone else sees the prompts through a video call or stream, for example, and keeps entering their answers at jackbox.tv.

Room codes, manual moderation and the option to remove individual players help with larger groups. Family-friendly settings and subtitles are also available.
