What is The Talos Principle 3?

The Talos Principle 3 is the final chapter of Croteam's philosophical first-person puzzle trilogy. The story leads into the Anomaly, a region of crumbling temples and former research stations where familiar physical rules do not always apply. As a character with fragmented memories, players solve puzzles and reconstruct their own past and a future history of humanity.

The game combines exploration, three-dimensional brain teasers and narrative choices. It is announced as a standalone single-player title.

Gameplay

The first-person puzzles combine familiar ideas from the series with newly announced mechanics. Players explore different areas of the Anomaly and solve tasks to uncover more parts of its story. The gameplay trailer from October 2026 gives a first impression of the new locations and brain teasers.

According to the developers, there are mandatory tasks to progress and further, more demanding puzzles that unlock additional secrets of the game world. The announcement does not list a complete set of mechanics and therefore does not yet allow a reliable assessment of difficulty or playtime.

The Anomaly as a new puzzle world

The story begins in the Anomaly, where structures from very different eras and technology levels meet. Crumbling temples and abandoned research facilities stand side by side, while the game world does not reliably follow known physical rules. This contrast forms the backdrop for new puzzles and the search for the main character's memories.

The developers announce numerous worlds of their own with different locations, characters and stories. How exactly the Anomaly connects to the series' earlier history remains a narrative mystery.

Exploration and future story

Beyond the Anomaly, Croteam takes players through a larger future story. Official descriptions mention, among other things, a desert planet being terraformed and the gardens of Elysium. Memory fragments are meant to show how the civilisation created by humanity has developed.

The design of a society without material scarcity serves as more than just a backdrop. It continues the series' core question of how human values, consciousness and culture might change after the end of biological humanity.

Music and design

The music is again composed by Damjan Mravunac, whose work shaped the first two games. For the finale, Croteam and Devolver Digital announce a new original soundtrack.

The gameplay trailer shows a world that places monumental structures, natural landscapes and futuristic technology side by side. Whether and to what extent individual scenes come directly from the finished game cannot be independently assessed before release.

Game series

The first The Talos Principle came out in 2014, the sequel The Talos Principle 2 in 2023. Croteam describes the three parts as one connected story about identity, humanity and the future of a robotic society. The third part is meant to complete this narrative arc, not simply deliver another independent puzzle location.

The narrative work is again by Jonas Kyratzes, Verena Kyratzes and Tom Jubert. Croteam develops, Devolver Digital publishes. The Talos Principle: Reawakened also offers a modernised remake of the original game, which is run separately from the third part.
