Release
Thronefall launched in Steam Early Access on Aug 2, 2023 and reached version 1.0 on Oct 11, 2024. The Nintendo Switch version was released the same day.
On Nov 11, 2026, versions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation follow. On Xbox, Thronefall is also available on Game Pass from that day. The expansion Craaghelm also releases on Nov 11.

Thronefall is available for PC and Nintendo Switch. The PC version runs on Steam under Windows and macOS.
On Nov 11, 2026, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation are added. The Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere; Mythwright also announces that it will launch on Game Pass the same day.

Gameplay
Each round follows a day-night cycle. During the day, you spend gold on economic buildings, defenses, units and upgrades. At night, you must defend the chosen structure against waves of attacks and join the fighting yourself with your equipped weapon.
The base game includes ten maps, nine unlockable weapons and more than 50 perks. Up to five perks can be active at the same time; additional mutators change the difficulty and add further variations.

With Craaghelm, Thronefall receives its first major expansion on Nov 11, 2026. It moves the build-and-defend rhythm into a dwarf kingdom inside the mountain and adds new maps, weapons, perks, mutators, units and heroes.

Craaghelm
In Craaghelm, you descend as the last dwarf king into a mountain overrun by machines. The expansion includes eight themed maps with moving platforms, lava, blocked chokepoints and other terrain effects. Mithril and energy cores serve as additional resources.
New additions include more weapons, perks and mutators, as well as units such as axe throwers, airships and walker tanks. New heroes also support the campaign through the mountain.
