Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is the full 3D remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC and directly continues the story of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. After Joshua disappears, Estelle Bright sets out to find her partner and becomes increasingly drawn into the plans of the Ouroboros organization.

The remake keeps Liberl, the characters and the central story of the original, but modernizes the presentation with new 3D graphics, rearranged music, quality-of-life features and full English and Japanese voice acting.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter was released worldwide on Sept 17, 2026. The release includes PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. On Steam, the store may already show Sept 16 depending on your time zone, while Falcom, GungHo, PlayStation and Nintendo list Sept 17 as the worldwide launch date.

A free demo was already released on Aug 20 for PS5, Nintendo Switch and Steam. The demo save can be transferred to the full version. If you have a completed save from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, you also receive bonus items.

The game was released natively for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Compared with the Switch version, the Switch 2 Edition offers higher resolutions, improved textures and higher frame rates, but does not change the game content.

On all platforms, it is a single-player RPG. The Western console versions support German on-screen text, among other languages. Owners of the Switch version can get a separate upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition.

The battle system combines fast Quick Battles with tactical Command Battles. New is Brave Rush, which lets you link attacks with a party member during quick fights. Crafts, S-Crafts, Arts and the Orbment system remain core building blocks for building your party.

Beyond the main story, the remake offers additional activities such as fishing, poker and cooking together. Several well-known characters who were not regular party members in the predecessor can be used as playable party members this time.

The PC version requires Windows 10 or 11 in 64-bit. Steam lists as minimum hardware an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1050 with DirectX 11. According to the store, this profile is designed for 1080p and 60 FPS with the Performance graphics profile.
