What is Trover Saves the Universe?

Trover Saves the Universe is an absurd comedy action adventure by Squanch Games. The protagonist's dogs have been kidnapped by the cosmic villain Glorkon and placed in his eye sockets, where their life energy gives him power. Together with the reluctant Trover, you therefore travel through bizarre alien worlds to stop Glorkon.

The game combines 3D platforming, combat, puzzles and heavily dialogue-driven comedy. Trover is controlled directly, while the player character itself remains anchored in the story as a so-called Chairorpian.

Gameplay

Trover moves through several compact alien worlds, where platforming, simple melee combat, environmental puzzles and exploration intertwine. Over the course of the game, he gains additional abilities that open up new paths and interactions. The player character can also direct Trover from an elevated perspective and influence objects in the environment.

A large part of the game relies on conversations and side characters who seem improvised. Many scenes react to whether the player waits, moves on or triggers additional dialogue.

Digitally available since September 2026

On Sep 21, 2026, the Steam app was marked as retired at the publisher's request. Since then, SteamDB has listed app_retired_publisher_request = Yes for App 1051200 and no current store price.

Video Games Chronicle and other contemporary reports say at the same time that Trover has also disappeared from the digital offers of Epic Games, Meta, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. Historical store pages and search engine caches may still show old purchase prices or buttons. Squanch Games has not yet publicly explained the reason for the reported wide removal.
