Vixen 357

Vixen 357 is a turn-based mech strategy RPG by Extreme. The game originally came out in 1992 in Japan for Sega Mega Drive, or Genesis. The missions combine tactical grid battles with an ongoing science fiction story and the permanent loss of fallen pilots.

The original version of Vixen 357 came out in 1992 for Mega Drive/Genesis. Shinyuden later brought the game, which had only been released in Japanese, to the original console format in official English. A Windows PC version on Steam has also been announced for 2026; an exact release date has not been given yet.

Vixen 357 was developed for Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The announced remaster is coming natively to Windows PC via Steam. The current official Steam page does not list a version for any other modern platforms.

The campaign includes 16 tactical missions. Before and during battles, pilots are assigned to their VECTOR mechs. Positioning, weapon ranges and how units work together determine the turn-based combat. Fallen pilots are lost for good, and decisions between missions can change how the story develops.

For the Steam version, the store lists Windows 10, a Core2Duo processor and 1 GB of memory as the minimum requirements.

The Steam version adds English, Spanish and Japanese text to the classic version, along with modern quality-of-life features. These include rewind, turbo mode, save states, screen filters, a gallery and optional cheats. Steam achievements and Steam Cloud are also planned.

Vixen 357 is set in a distant future after a devastating alien conflict. The focus is a special unit that takes on a new threat with VECTOR combat machines. The story continues between tactical missions, and individual decisions affect how things unfold.
