Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves is a free open-world action RPG by KURO GAMES. As Rover, you wake up on Solaris-3 with no memory, a world changed by the Lamento, and travel with various Resonators through several regions to uncover your own past and the causes of the catastrophe.

The open world combines fast real-time combat with exploration, climbing, wall-running and grappling mechanics. Defeated Tacet Discords can be captured as Echoes and provide active abilities and extra stats for character builds.

Wuthering Waves launched in May 2024 for PC, iOS and Android. The native PlayStation 5 version followed on Jan 2, 2025. Since Jul 10, 2026, the action RPG is also available for Xbox Series X|S. The Steam version for Windows came out on Apr 28, 2025; it is an additional PC distribution route, not a separate further platform.

The game continues to be developed as an ongoing supported free-to-play RPG. Individual character banners, limited-time events and regular version updates, however, are not part of the base game's permanent release timeline.

Wuthering Waves is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android. On PC, Windows and macOS are supported; there is also the Windows version via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Progress can be synced across supported platforms via a KURO GAMES account. The game is free-to-play and is funded through optional in-game purchases and the Convene system.

In Wuthering Waves, groups of Resonators fight in real time. Different characters bring their own abilities and can be swapped during a battle. What matters is not just equipment stats but timing when dodging, counterattacking and using special abilities.

One special feature is Echoes: by defeating certain enemies, their powers can be made usable for your own characters. Echoes add extra traits and active actions to character builds. Together with weapons and each Resonator's abilities, they form the long-term progression system.

Away from combat, Rover explores the open world of Solaris-3. Climbing, wall-running, parkour and other ways of moving give room for detours and finding hidden places. The game tells its story through main and side quests and is continually expanded with new content.

On Windows, Wuthering Waves requires at least Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM and about 150 GB of free storage. KURO GAMES and Steam list a GeForce GTX 1060, Radeon RX 570 or Intel Arc A380 as the minimum graphics cards. For the recommended configuration, 32 GB RAM and, among others, an RTX 2060, Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A750 are listed.

On macOS, macOS 12 or later with an Apple M1 chip or newer is required.

With version 3.8, KURO GAMES is switching the Steam version to the official Wuthering Waves launcher. Game files and future updates will be managed within the launcher, while Steam continues to serve as the entry point.

The launcher is intended to support, among other things, different resource packs based on the desired graphics quality, as well as pre-downloading upcoming versions. This brings download and update management on Steam permanently in line with the other PC versions.
