Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a role-playing game by MONOLITHSOFT and Nintendo. The story follows Noah and Mio, who fight on opposite sides of an endless conflict between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Together with their companions, they break out of this cycle and travel through the open world of Aionios.

The game combines large explorable areas with real-time combat, a flexible class system and the option to recruit selected heroes into your party.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was released on July 29, 2022 for Nintendo Switch. On Dec 3, 2026 a native Nintendo Switch 2 Edition follows. Owners of the original Switch version can unlock the new features via a separate Upgrade Pack.

The RPG is available natively for Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition releases as a separate native version on Dec 3, 2026. Anyone who already owns Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on Switch can use the Upgrade Pack on Switch 2 instead.

The party fights in real time and combines different roles and classes. Characters can switch class, learn new abilities and use particularly powerful Ouroboros forms together. Besides the six core characters, additional heroes can be recruited, unlocking new classes and playstyles.

The Expansion Pass adds more content to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in several waves. It concludes with Future Redeemed, a large story expansion that links the worlds and characters of the Xenoblade series.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition technically improves Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and at the same time expands it with new content. In TV mode, according to Nintendo, the version supports output up to 4K; in handheld mode, Full HD. The game runs at up to 60 frames per second.

Also new is Heroes’ Vault, a defensive combat mode with enemy waves. Between waves, the party can be strengthened through improved abilities and additional allies before a powerful final boss awaits. Shimmer adds a new heroine who combines fast attacks with the Foresight ability. In addition, further event scenes are now fully voiced in English and Japanese.
