What is Xevious 3D/G?

Xevious 3D/G is a vertically scrolling arcade shooter from Namco, released in 1996. The game carries the basic idea of the classic Xevious into polygonal 3D graphics, using changing camera angles, modelled animations and far more staged scenes.

You still fly the Solvalou. Air and ground targets require different weapons, while new enemies and additional armament expand the familiar basic principle.

Gameplay

Xevious 3D/G remains a shooter with separate attacks against air and ground targets, but expands the system with new weapons, enemies and a three-stage power-up system. Bandai Namco lists a total of seven areas, including a desert with ground markings and a space fortress.

The polygonal presentation allows much more dynamic camera movements than the original Xevious. Up to two players can team up.

What Arcade Archives 2 adds

The Arcade Archives 2 series adds more modern convenience features to classic emulation. These include multiple save slots, rewind, Quick Start and VRR support. Alongside Original, High Score and Caravan modes, the series can also offer a Time Attack mode and, depending on the game, network features.

HAMSTER explicitly notes that Time Attack and network mode are not necessarily present in every single Arcade Archives 2 title. For Xevious 3D/G, the current product announcement therefore only confirms the release itself and the player count of one to two.
