Gameplay

Every week, new petitioners arrive in the throne room. You decide who you help, which requests take a back seat and which promises your kingdom can actually keep. These decisions affect resources, relationships and the course of history.

Besides the court, you must keep Davern stable. Taxes, laws, allies and the work of your agents determine which options will be open later.

The story of Davern

After the events of Yes, Your Grace, King Eryk must win back his realm's trust while protecting his family. The threat of a harsh winter and political conflicts make even small everyday decisions significant.

Recurring characters meet new residents and opponents. The story focuses on personal relationships and the long-term consequences of rule rather than open battles as the central game mechanic.

Petitioners and their decisions

Merchants, villagers, nobles and other people with very different wishes wait in the throne room. Some need help, others try to gain advantages from the king's power.

The order of petitioners is partly variable. The game contains over 200 court requests that do not appear in the same sequence in every playthrough. You have to set priorities rather than being able to fulfill every wish.

Distribute food, money and time

You manage resources that are only available in limited supply. Gold from the treasury, supplies and your agents' working time must be divided between urgent problems and longer-term tasks.

Whoever immediately helps a petitioner may lose important resources elsewhere. Recurring needs in the realm make administration a lasting part of the story.

Laws, taxes and political consequences

As king, you can levy taxes and pass new laws. Such moves change how people and groups in the realm behave toward your rule.

Political decisions often sit between short-term relief and longer-term consequences for Davern. The success of a measure does not depend solely on how much gold it brings in.

Agents for risky tasks

You hire agents with their own skills and send them on missions. They can help with disputes, investigations or other problems that cannot be solved from the throne alone.

The helpers have their own personalities and relationships. Their loyalty and their stories affect who you choose for upcoming tasks.

The royal family at the center

King Eryk's family is an essential part of the story. You guide the children as they grow up and must make decisions that affect not only the realm but also family life.

Political obligations and personal needs regularly clash. This is not a freely controllable life simulation, but decisions firmly woven into the story.

Slavic myths and a wintry world

The game world combines medieval rule with motifs from Slavic folklore. Old stories, unusual characters and superstition come up in the concerns of the people.

Snow and winter shape the atmosphere as much as the kingdom's conflicts. That is why Davern feels different from a purely historical strategy game.

Pixel art in 2.5D

Snowfall combines elaborately animated pixel art with spatially striking locations. The throne room, characters and surroundings therefore appear noticeably more lively than in the first part.

The presentation focuses on dialogue, facial expressions, movement and the effects of your decisions. Classic action battles are not the focus.
