What is Zombie Police: Midsummer Unhappy New Year?
Zombie Police: Midsummer Unhappy New Year is a single-player adventure that blends mystery, visual novel and investigation. The focus is on the unconventional zombie detective Akemi Kabane and her down-to-earth junior partner Yasu Tamura. In Shimofuri Village, which is frozen like the deepest winter in the middle of summer, they investigate a tragedy that happens during a VTuber livestream.
The tone deliberately shifts between comedy and a dark crime case. Conversations, supernatural investigation methods and linking statements lead step by step to the truth behind the village and its customs.

Gameplay
The investigations combine conversations, collecting statements, checking contradictions and presenting key evidence. Akemi and Yasu take on different roles: Akemi gets information using unusual methods, while Yasu's case notes help piece together witness statements and key terms logically.
The story is built as a character-driven mystery adventure. The case in Shimofuri Village combines classic detective work with the supernatural abilities of an investigator who is herself a zombie.

Zombie Dive and Journal
With Zombie Dive, Akemi can enter the mind of an investigation target and obtain information that stays hidden in a normal interview. The system is not limited to people: objects and exhibits can also become targets.
The statements you gather go into Yasu's Journal. There, witness statements and key terms are linked together to close gaps in the case and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Investigating like an Immortal
Akemi uses her undead body as a tool for investigative work. She can, for example, take off her own head, drink poison to test a theory, or spend a night in a freezer. These absurd abilities are not just gags, but part of the series' distinctive detective identity.
