The Ultimate savings trick: converting Essential to Ultimate

A key advantage for price-conscious buyers is the option to get the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate much cheaper by taking the detour via Xbox Game Pass Essential (formerly Core) uses. Microsoft’s official conversion system can often bring the monthly price down to effectively around €10 lower.

This is how to maximize the term:

1. Build Essential credit: First, up to 36 months of Xbox Game Pass Essential is loaded onto the Microsoft account using a key. It’s important that there is currently no active Ultimate subscription.
2. Convert term: Afterwards, a 1-month key for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is activated.
3. The 40% rule: Activating Ultimate converts your entire existing Essential term at a ratio of 3:2 (approx. 40% reduction). This turns 36 months of Essential into roughly 14 to 15 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

Because Essential keys are often offered at a much lower price in price comparisons, this method is the most efficient way to get long-term access to the Ultimate plan.
