Cricket Through the Ages: the absurd history of cricket
In Cricket Through the Ages, humanity supposedly evolves not through tools and discoveries, but through throwing balls and wielding bats. From the Stone Age through historical duels and other sports to absurd future scenarios, comic characters stumble through short challenges. The joke lies in the unpredictable physics: a single bad swing can send your own character to the ground or hit an opponent at just the right moment.
One button, many game modes and chaos for two
You only need a single button to make a character throw, swing and stumble. Depending on the game mode, weapons, obstacles and rules can change. Alone you play through the episodes against the AI; with a second person it becomes a quirky couch duel or shared spectacle. The game comes from Free Lives, the makers of Broforce, and is published by Devolver Digital.
Switch: handheld, TV and two players
Nintendo released the title on Mar 1, 2024 as a native Switch game. The physics-based short duels work in handheld, tabletop and TV mode; a Pro Controller is supported. On one console one or two people can play. The download is about 680 MB, and Nintendo Switch Online enables cloud saves.
Age ratings and languages
Nintendo Germany rates it USK 12, while the Austrian eShop shows PEGI 7. The menu text is available in German, English, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and French, among others. Switch 2 backward compatibility is not a separate native Switch 2 version. The Steam PC offer does not unlock the Nintendo version.
