de Blob was originally released for Nintendo Wii in 2008. In this colorful 3D platformer, the I.N.K.T. Corporation has turned the streets of Chroma City gray and robbed residents of their joy. As a walking paint blob you roll, hop and jump through the districts, collect paint and restore the color of buildings, streets and monuments.
Color as a game mechanic
De Blob mixes primary colors, completes missions for the Color Revolutionaries and fights back against the soldiers of Comrade Black. Whoever handles paint energy carelessly has to recharge at the right spots. When painting large streets, musical changes occur: your actions shape not only the look of the city but also its atmosphere. The controls were designed for the Wii Remote, which makes the original version clearly different from the later PC and console versions.
Original version for Wii
The European Wii version came out on September 26, 2008, developed by Blue Tongue Entertainment and published by THQ. Along with the single-player campaign there are local multiplayer modes for up to four players. The Wii release is a standalone native version and not comparable to the 2017 PC re-release or a mere backward compatibility release. Nintendo gives the German edition an age rating of 6 and up.
