Vitavania: Hand-drawn Metroidvania with a cat heroine
In Vitavania you roam as a young cat heroine through a colorful fantasy world full of hidden paths, mystical creatures and dangerous enemies. The adventure, developed by Nekod, combines classic Metroidvania exploration with platformer and RPG elements. New abilities gradually open regions that were previously out of reach, while battles against large bosses and the story about mysterious divine powers shape the way.
A large world, including under the water surface
According to the developer, around 40 percent of the game world is underwater. You switch between land sections, flooded areas and winding passages, find hidden places and look for new routes. With your growing set of abilities you can revisit known areas to uncover more secrets.
Sandbox ideas beside the combat
Vitavania is not limited to jumping and fighting. The announced day-night cycle changes the atmosphere; you can also play instruments and draw. The developers emphasize the playful interaction with the cat character and a hand-drawn look that clearly differs from pure pixel-art Metroidvanias. How extensive the additional sandbox features will be is yet to be seen after release.
Release on PC and supported languages
The current Steam listing gives Nov 12, 2026 as the release date. However, the Steam store warns that the Mac version is not compatible with macOS 10.15 or newer. The language list includes twelve interface languages, including German; Steam also marks them for subtitles and full audio.
Hardware and additional soundtrack
On Windows, Steam lists at least a dual-core processor at 2.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce GTS 450 or Radeon HD 5750, and 400 MB of free storage. The music released via Steam is announced separately as Vitavania Original Soundtrack. These are additional music files, not a second playable edition. A free trial of the main application is available.
