Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut is a spatial puzzle adventure in first person. You wake up in a huge white structure that is hurtling through space towards Earth. Your glowing special gloves can move red cubes to form steps, use blue blocks as jumping surfaces and change entire chambers by cleverly placing objects.
A mysterious story and ten time trials
The story, written by Rob Yescombe with English voice acting, expands the original Q.U.B.E. considerably. In addition to the physics-based puzzles and short dexterity sections, the Director’s Cut includes a new soundtrack and ten Against the Qlock time trials. Each challenge demands precise timing, a good route and efficient use of the cube mechanic.
A standalone game alongside the original and 10th Anniversary
The Director’s Cut is a standalone release from 2014. The technically revised Q.U.B.E. 10th Anniversary from 2022 is a different game with the additional Sector 8; Q.U.B.E. 2 is another standalone sequel. The console versions of this Director’s Cut are also single-player games.
PlayStation 3 and cross-buy
The native PlayStation 3 version was released in Europe on Jul 22, 2015, according to the German PlayStation Blog. With the cross-buy release at the time, buying it also gave you the PS4 version; both are technically standalone console versions. The PS3 supports the DualShock 3 controller, English dialogue and English on-screen text. A standalone PS3 Store product ID has not been reliably confirmed and is therefore not listed.
