Hillys: one reporter against the propaganda
In Beyond Good & Evil (2003), you step into the role of reporter Jade. On the planet Hillys, threatened by the alien race DomZ, the Alpha Sections claim to protect the population. But mysterious attacks and vanished residents make Jade doubt the official version. Together with her adoptive uncle Pey’j and the resistance of the IRIS organization, she searches for evidence of a huge conspiracy.
Camera, sneaking and fighting
Jade explores cities, hidden facilities and coastal landscapes. With her camera, she documents animal species and collects photo evidence, while her Daï-Jo staff helps in fights. Stealth sections, puzzles, hovercraft races and adventure segments intertwine. Companions such as Pey’j and Double H support the reporter at crucial moments.
Original game vs. later remasters
This is the original action-adventure by Ubisoft Montpellier and not one of the reworked re-releases. The standalone HD version for PS3 and Xbox 360 came out in 2011, and the technically and content-wise expanded 20th Anniversary Edition in 2024. The versions share story and characters, but are not merely paid Deluxe packages of the original program.
The version for (Original)
Original Xbox release date: Europe February 27, 2004; North America December 2, 2003. Xbox 360 HD is a standalone 2011 version; Xbox One/Series compatibility does not establish new native 2003 game keys. The original console version comes from Ubisoft’s original release; later remasters remain standalone products.
