DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil for the original Xbox is the standalone playable console version of the DOOM 3 expansion. Unlike the PC expansion, the first Xbox does not require a copy of the DOOM 3 base game: Activision released the new campaign as a separate, playable game on disc.
The story is set two years after the disaster on Mars. While re-investigating a UAC research facility, a Marine discovers an ancient artifact and unleashes another demonic invasion. Along with new enemies and boss fights, the double-barreled shotgun, the Grabber for picking up and throwing objects, and the artifact’s time-altering powers are added. The Xbox version adapts the controls to the gamepad and offers its own multiplayer maps via System Link and the Xbox Live of the time.
As extras, the complete classic content of DOOM II and the Master Levels for DOOM II are included. Activision announced the US release on Oct 6, 2005; the European Xbox version followed on Oct 21, 2005. The classic Xbox disc is not identical to the PC DLC version, the later BFG Edition or an Xbox One download product. When buying older offers, check the original platform, region and disc.
