007 First Light

007 First Light is a third-person action adventure from IO Interactive and tells a standalone origin story of the young James Bond. As an MI6 recruit, you combine sneaking, bluffing, gadgets, melee combat, gunfights and vehicle sequences.

Missions can be completed quietly, socially or with direct force, depending on the situation. After the campaign, TacSim adds scores, modifiers and extra challenges to selected missions.

007 First Light released on May 27, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On Steam, the PC version is listed for May 26, 2026.

The native Nintendo Switch 2 version releases on March 18, 2027.

On Switch 2, IO Interactive is aiming for 30 frames per second in handheld and TV modes. According to technical producer Cristina Vega, the enemy count and core game systems will be preserved. For the smaller display, distant image details and the user interface display are among the things being adjusted. The studio does not plan a mouse mode.

First Light combines stealth, social engineering, gadgets and open action. Bond can deceive security forces, look for alternative routes or escalate situations into close and long-range combat.

For Switch 2, IO Interactive is drawing on experience from the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. The studio is adjusting the UI and readability specifically for the smaller handheld screen while also working to keep the seamless transitions of the Glacier Engine game.

The Switch 2 version is already playable from start to finish. The remaining work focuses on stability and optimization. IO Interactive is aiming for 30 fps in both docked and handheld mode; enemy density and core gameplay are preserved, while, for example, the detail level of distant trees and other objects can be reduced.

On October 1, 2026, 007 First Light received a free content pack with Extended Operations. It permanently adds New Game+, the new 00 difficulty, a full Photo Mode and additional TacSim content.

The Valhalla Protocol consists of four missions with the Aston Martin Valhalla in the Slovak mountains. Another TacSim mission leads to the villa of The Pearl in Vietnam. TacSim now also offers the campaign's full weapon arsenal. Extended Operations also improves weapon handling and expands close-combat situations.

On PC, the minimum requirements are Windows 10/11 64-bit, a Core i5-9500 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5700, and an SSD with around 80 GB of free storage.
