ANANTA

ANANTA is a free-to-play urban open-world RPG by Naked Rain Studio and NetEase Games. The game was originally announced as Project Mugen and is set in the sprawling metropolis of Nova City, where everyday life, supernatural disruptions and deliberately over-the-top situations intertwine.

Players take on the new captain of a special unit, put together their own team and switch between several characters with different roles. Besides missions against threats, Nova City is also meant to work as a freely explorable living space – with city districts, leisure activities, NPC encounters and a strongly vertical environment.

ANANTA releases worldwide on Jan 15, 2027. The date is listed on the official website with a release countdown. NetEase and Naked Rain position the game as a free-to-play release.

An early access launch or a staggered release by region is currently not announced. The confirmed global date in January 2027 is therefore the one that applies.

The confirmed platform list includes PC, PlayStation 5, iOS and Android. The official pre-registration explicitly lists Steam, PS5, App Store and Google Play.

An Xbox or Nintendo version is currently not confirmed. That is why there are only the four officially announced native platforms.

ANANTA uses an open city structure with freely switchable characters. Missions and exploration combine classic open-world activities with different roles: the player can, among other things, be a police officer, digital specialist, courier or livestreamer and thus experience different perspectives on Nova City.

The environment is designed to be highly interactive. Official gameplay details name spontaneous city events, usable everyday objects and believably reacting NPCs as central building blocks. In fights, precise dodging, blocking and countering are as much a part of the system as using objects from the environment.

Nova City is meant to be more than just a backdrop. Interactive hotspots can trigger events such as small encounters, confrontations or leisure activities. The roles of the team members change how players experience the city and which tasks take centre stage.

Interior spaces are also part of the permanent world design: Naked Rain describes accessible areas on three vertical levels – ground, middle levels and rooftops. The aim is for the city to consist of connected indoor and outdoor spaces rather than just a street backdrop.

Nova City is designed for free movement. Besides ordinary locomotion, Naked Rain also mentions swinging movement and a strongly vertical approach to exploration, with which players can quickly switch between streets, elevated levels and other parts of the city.

In addition, various private and public means of transport are available. They serve both open exploration and individual missions and are therefore a firm part of the game world's structure.
