Beast of Reincarnation

Beast of Reincarnation is a single-player action RPG by Game Freak. In Japan in the year 4026, the outcast Emma and her unusual dog Koo travel through a world where a mysterious plant plague is transforming settlements and landscapes.

Emma fights directly with her sword, while Koo responds to commands. Exploration, demanding battles and the development of both characters drive the adventure.

Beast of Reincarnation was released for Windows PC on Steam on Aug 3, 2026. The native versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S followed on Aug 4, 2026.

Game Freak developed the RPG, Fictions published it.

Beast of Reincarnation is available for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On Xbox, the game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so the same purchase can also be played on compatible Windows devices.

The PC version offers keyboard and controller support. The PS5 version uses the features of the DualSense controller.

Emma dodges attacks, parries at the right moment and strikes with her sword or ranged weapons. Successful parries earn points that Koo can use for special abilities.

Time slows down while you give commands to Koo. This way, quick reactions and deliberate choice of techniques alternate.

The separately available Deluxe DLC adds cosmetic items and game resources. These include alternative fur colors for Koo, Emma's hat and a special sword design.

The Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the main game with the additional content. The base game is required for the separately sold DLC.

Beast of Reincarnation requires at least a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1070 with 8 GB or Radeon RX 580 with 8 GB graphics memory on Windows 10 or 11. An SSD with 45 GB of free storage space is required.

Recommended: a Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X and a GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB or Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB.

Emma and Koo make up the playable duo. Emma can control plants and absorb the abilities of defeated mighty creatures. Koo supports her in combat, sniffs out interesting places and responds to her commands.

Your bond with Koo can be strengthened. As trust grows, the companion gains more options.

Emma uses her altered hair like vines. This lets her reach higher levels, bridge gaps and surprise enemies from above.

Abilities make verticality part of exploration. Hidden paths and elevated positions also matter during combat.

The story takes place in Japan in the year 4026. A force described as the Corruption has changed people and animals and overgrown entire landscapes. Among abandoned facilities, settlements and dense forests, Emma and Koo encounter hostile creatures.

The vegetation can visibly change during the journey. Some areas are suddenly covered in plants, opening new paths or dangers.

Emma improves her combat techniques through equipment and unlockable abilities. Weapons, spirit stones and different skills allow builds geared towards melee, ranged or stealthy play.

Koo also develops new techniques. Both become especially powerful when their abilities are well matched.

Food plays a role while exploring. Emma and Koo only recover reliably when their supplies are secured. Dishes can also grant temporary stat boosts.

At the mobile camp, you can process ingredients. Searching for materials and recipes is therefore part of the gameplay outside of combat too.

Beast of Reincarnation offers several difficulty levels. In October 2026, two extra challenges were added: Very hard and Ruthless. On Ruthless, a single hit is enough to defeat Emma.

Reincarnation+ is available for another playthrough. Different difficulty levels can also be selected there.

Beast of Reincarnation is a single-player adventure with no shared co-op mode. On Steam, the game supports German on-screen text and subtitles. Voice acting is available in English and Japanese.

The PC version includes Steam achievements and cloud saves.

Powerful enemies place special demands on timing, equipment and how Emma and Koo work together. Emma can absorb the powers of defeated mighty creatures, opening up new possibilities for the journey ahead.

The bosses are also at the heart of the story: Emma and Koo search for a way to stop the spread of the corruption.
