The fallen city of Gildenarch

Gildenarch was a holy city before demons and other supernatural creatures overran its districts. Nephilim explore ruined streets, cemeteries, catacombs and districts transformed by hellish growths.

The individual districts form the settings for the repeatable hunts. As danger increases in the deeper areas, the chances of especially valuable gear rise.

Missions and changing challenges

Crimson Moon relies on repeatable missions with changing objectives and modifiers. After successful hunts, further missions and challenges can be added. Dynamic difficulty adjustment is meant to account for both solo progress and co-op play.

Higher difficulty levels promise better rewards. That makes the decision of how far to push into more dangerous districts with your current gear important.

Find gear and keep it permanently

Weapons and armor pieces drop as loot during hunts. Items found are not automatically secured permanently: in the refuge Sanctus Clypeus they can be cleansed so they remain available for later missions.

Helmets, chest plates, gloves and greaves have their own stats. You can mix pieces from different sets and focus on damage resistance, stamina regeneration or the effect of weapon abilities, for example.

Weapon Arts and your own fighting styles

Each weapon comes with its own Weapon Arts. Some allow a quick attack from range, others rely on powerful, prepared strikes. Together with your armor's attributes, your choice of abilities determines whether you attack aggressively or hold out longer.

Since weapons and armor pieces have different attributes, you can change your loadout for the next hunt and try new combinations.

Angel Mode and Nephilim powers

As a Nephilim, your character can temporarily unleash supernatural powers. In Angel Mode, movement and attacks change, so stronger actions can be used against enemy groups or bosses.

The benefits of this transformation also depend on the attributes of the armor equipped. It complements weapon abilities but does not replace regular melee combat.

Solo or two-player online co-op

Crimson Moon can be played fully solo or online with one other player. In co-op, different fighting styles can be combined, such as an aggressive melee fighter with a more resilient partner. Fallen allies can be revived.

On PlayStation, online play requires PlayStation Plus. On Xbox, console multiplayer requires a matching Game Pass subscription. Single-player play does not require a co-op subscription.

Sanctus Clypeus as your base

Between missions you return to the refuge Sanctus Clypeus. There, loot is secured permanently and your own gear is adjusted. The church also serves as a place for encounters with characters and lasting upgrades.

At the war table you plan your next hunt and choose which challenge to take on.
