What is DAVE THE DIVER?

DAVE THE DIVER is a single-player adventure by MINTROCKET that interweaves two very different halves of the day: by day, Dave dives into the mysterious Blue Hole, catches fish, collects materials and encounters ever-new dangers. In the evening, the catch and ingredients go to Bancho Sushi, where staff, menu and restaurant operations are managed.

The appeal lies precisely in this switch. Money from the restaurant flows back into diving gear and weapons, while better expeditions unlock new ingredients, quests and stories. The presentation combines pixel characters with 3D environments and a deliberately light, often comedic tone.

Gameplay

At the Blue Hole, the terrain and ecology change, so dives are not just identical collection rounds. Dave uses a harpoon and other weapons, catches sea creatures and collects resources for new equipment. Oxygen is the key limit: if it runs out, only a small part of the catch is kept.

After the dive, restaurant management takes over. Caught fish become dishes, and earnings fund better equipment and additional staff. Besides the main story, there is photography, seahorse racing, farming, collection systems, mini-games and numerous side quests.

Subnautica 2 Content Pack: Proteus as a new diving area

The announced Subnautica 2 Content Pack is a crossover with Unknown Worlds' science fiction survival series. From the Blue Hole, the expansion takes Dave into the alien underwater world of the moon Proteus. There he is to discover new sea creatures and resources, while Bancho uses his finds as inspiration for his menu. MINTROCKET has also announced encounters and support missions in the alien deep sea.

The pack requires the main game DAVE THE DIVER. The official announcement from Oct 8, 2026 gives early 2027 as the target window for Steam; the store does not yet list a specific day. No separate confirmation has been given for other platforms. No price has been announced: the store category "Free To Play" alone does not confirm that the DLC is free.
