Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative sci-fi first-person shooter by Ghost Ship Games. Up to four players work together as dwarven miners on Hoxxes IV, complete mission objectives, mine resources and fight their way through procedurally generated cave systems full of alien creatures.

The environment is fully destructible: walls, floors and ceilings can be opened up with tools and explosives. This creates alternative routes, improvised escape paths and your own access to mission objectives.

The full version was released on May 13, 2020 for PC and Xbox One. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 followed on Jan 4, 2022. A native version optimised for Xbox Series X|S is available separately.

Native versions are available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Microsoft supports the Xbox version with Xbox Play Anywhere, Smart Delivery and Series optimisation. The PlayStation versions are offered for PS4 and PS5.

Deep Rock Galactic is designed for cooperative play for one to four players. Four classes take on different roles: Scout, Gunner, Engineer and Driller each have their own weapons, tools and movement options. Missions take you through procedurally generated caves in different biomes, whose geometry can be fully altered.

Switching between combat, resource mining, navigation and a shared escape defines the core of every expedition.

Ghost Ship Games has permanently expanded Deep Rock Galactic through several free seasons. The current Steam version includes six seasons and allows access to earlier seasonal content without time-limited battle passes. Paid DLCs focus mainly on cosmetic packs and do not fundamentally change gameplay progression.

Steam lists minimum requirements of Windows 7 64-bit, a 3rd generation Intel Core i5, 6 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870, and DirectX 11. Recommended are Windows 10 64-bit, a 7th generation Core i5, 8 GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290.

Scout, Gunner, Engineer and Driller tackle the same mission objectives with different tools. The Scout reaches distant points quickly and lights up large caves, the Gunner provides heavy firepower and zip lines, the Engineer builds platforms and turrets, while the Driller carves new paths straight through rock. These roles work together especially well in four-player co-op.

Between missions, equipment, weapons and cosmetic customisations are unlocked. Seasonal content remains accessible as a permanent part of the game; Steam explicitly describes the model as having no time-limited battle passes and no loss of earlier season rewards through an expiry date.
