What is Dimraeth?

Dimraeth is a fantasy action RPG from Mudtek that combines a handcrafted pixel world with deliberate Souls-lite combat, character development, crafting and base building. The journey leads through Mirkea, a world where a corruption is spreading and ancient magic works beneath the surface.

The game can be played entirely alone or in online co-op with up to eight players. Instead of an MMO approach, Mudtek focuses on smaller groups, freely combinable builds and a world where exploration, combat, allies and building up your own home belong together.

Dimraeth launched on Sep 15, 2026 in Steam Early Access for PC. Mudtek roughly plans 18 to 24 months for the Early Access phase, but explicitly makes the actual scope dependent on major content updates and community feedback.

The current Early Access version is already playable as a cooperative action RPG. Further zones, biomes, factions, classes, bosses as well as deeper crafting, building and endgame systems are planned during development. A fixed date for version 1.0 has not yet been announced.

Platforms

Dimraeth is currently available natively for Windows PC via Steam. The official FAQ also mentions Steam Deck support. Console versions are currently not confirmed; Mudtek is focusing on the PC version first.

Keyboard and mouse, gamepad and a WASD/mouse hybrid are supported. Local multiplayer and dedicated servers are currently not part of the offer; co-op runs online via a peer-to-peer model.

Gameplay

Combat relies on stamina, positioning, dodging, blocking and parrying rather than simple button mashing. Elemental magic can be combined with weapon attacks, while talent trees, faction abilities and class synergies enable different builds.

The current Early Access includes three factions – Minotaurs, Elves and Humans – and three classes – Brawler, Mage and Shadow. Long term, the system is designed for eight factions and six classes. The open world combines combat with exploration, resource gathering, crafting and building up your own base.

Co-op and world progress

Up to eight players can seamlessly join or leave a running world. Your character keeps level, equipment, inventory, spells and personal progress when switching between worlds. Story progress, recruited allies and built structures, however, remain tied to the host's world.

As a result, Dimraeth deliberately separates permanent hero progress from the state of a specific game world. Groups can therefore take their characters along without automatically transferring the entire world progress of a host.

Base building, allies and relationships

Besides combat, building your own home is central to the game. Resources go into crafting, buildings and production structures, while recruited characters can bring new functions and stories into the settlement.

The official description ties these systems to relationships with allies and a world that is meant to react to decisions. Base building is therefore not just decoration, but part of long-term progress between exploration, character development and story.
