What is Discounty?

Discounty is a single-player simulation about running a supermarket and living in a small harbour town. In Blomkest, you take over your aunt's store. You set up shelves, plan the customers' routes and make sure ordered goods actually end up on sale.

Running the store comes with an ongoing story. The more the business grows, the clearer the tension becomes between economic success and the interests of the residents.

Gameplay

The core loop is the daily switch between preparation and sales. Shelves need stocking, inventory needs reordering and the checkout needs staffing. Poor aisle planning slows down shopping, just like long queues at the checkout.

As revenue grows, you can expand the sales floor. New product groups and decorations change the layout. Discounty combines these management tasks with a story, rather than offering an endless supermarket sandbox.

Suppliers and trade deals

The supermarket also gets new goods through contracts with businesses in Blomkest. To do this, you have to get to know the producers and win their trust. Relationships outside the store therefore affect which products you can sell later.

Growth also requires decisions about how to use the space in the store and which improvements the revenue goes into.

Blomkest and the story

After closing time, you can explore Blomkest and talk to the residents. The harbour town has its own conflicts, and not all residents welcome the store's growing influence.

The plot asks who benefits from the supermarket's success. Economic goals, relationships and changes in the town are intertwined. The story is embedded in a single-player campaign.
