What is Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake by Purple Lamp of the 2010 Disney Epic Mickey. Mickey Mouse once again lands in Wasteland, a world built from forgotten Disney characters and discarded ideas. With his magic brush he can apply paint to restore parts of the environment, or use thinner to remove structures and open up new paths.
The remake keeps this core idea, modernizes graphics and controls, and adds dash, ground pound and sprint to Mickey's movement. The central characters include Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who plays a special role in Wasteland.

Gameplay
The magic brush is the central tool. Paint restores parts of the world, thinner removes certain elements. This allows paths, secrets and individual encounters to be solved in different ways. Choices affect how the adventure unfolds and lead to several possible endings.
Alongside the brush mechanics, Rebrushed is a classic 3D platformer. Mickey jumps through Wasteland, collects Disney pins, meets familiar and forgotten characters, and uses additional movement abilities such as dash, ground pound and sprint, which were not yet in the 2010 original.

DLCs and expansions
The Costume Pack is the standalone additional content for the game and includes extra costumes for Mickey. It is included in the Nintendo Switch 2 version bought directly. With the free upgrade from a Switch 1 version, the DLC is only carried over if you already own and have installed it for the original Switch version.

Switch 2: Free upgrade and save data transfer
Owners of the Nintendo Switch version can unlock the Switch 2 version's improvements for free. According to the THQ Nordic FAQ, this applies to digital and physical copies. For a cartridge, the Switch 1 card must be inserted into the Switch 2 and the upgrade patch then installed.
Anyone using this upgrade path can keep using their existing save after the system transfer. The situation is different when buying the standalone Switch 2 version directly: the console treats it as a separate product and does not carry over the Switch 1 save. The separately purchased Switch 2 version already includes the Costume Pack, however.

Game series
Rebrushed is based on Disney Epic Mickey, which came out for Wii in 2010 and was originally developed by Warren Spector and Junction Point Studios. Purple Lamp reworked the story and core mechanics, while Spector advised on the remake. The game thus remains clearly part of the Epic Mickey series and revisits the original's central characters, places and choices.
