Platforms

DJMAX RESPECT V was released natively for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, the Steam version supports keyboard and controller. The Xbox version offers Smart Delivery, Xbox Play Anywhere and cross-platform multiplayer on Xbox Network.

DJMAX RESPECT for PlayStation 4 is a standalone, earlier release. Its PS5 playability via backward compatibility does not make DJMAX RESPECT V a native PS5 version.

Gameplay

On every song, notes move down several lanes toward a hit line. Hitting them exactly on the beat earns high accuracy scores and keeps your combo going. Different key layouts change the density and distribution of notes without needing different music.

Easier arrangements make it simple to get into a track. More demanding patterns call for fast finger changes, clean rhythm and attention to notes that appear at the same time.

There are also cosmetic gear packs and separately sold soundtracks. The Deluxe, Deluxe Plus and Complete bundles offered on Steam combine several items. They are not standalone base games.

Game modes

Freestyle mode lets you select songs for individual runs and practise. AIR mode plays a continuous, changing selection of music. You can listen, play along yourself and read or leave comments on the pieces.

Online modes are available for direct comparisons. The Xbox version also offers multiplayer matches with two to seven people over the network. This makes the game suitable both for practising alone and for competitions.

Music and artists

The base game includes more than 150 music tracks, accompanied by exclusive music videos. Alongside DJMAX composers such as BEXTER, ND LEE, Paul Bazooka and Makou, artists including Marshmello, Porter Robinson and Yukika are featured.

The song selection is not limited to a single style. Tempo, instrumentation and note patterns partly differ significantly, so two pieces at the same difficulty can demand very different skills.

Keyboard and controller

The PC version supports keyboard and controller input. Since the notes are spread across fixed tracks, key mapping and input feel also determine how easy a pattern is to read and play.

Note pattern difficulty levels and freely selectable songs help with practice. The game requires no musical experience but rewards precise sense of rhythm.
