EA SPORTS College Football 27 is an American football simulation built around US college leagues. You control real college teams on the field or build a long-term successful program in career mode. On the field, it's about plays, running and passing routes, defensive formations and tactical behaviour before the snap.

The 2026 edition combines games with the Dynasty and Road to Glory management and player career modes. Online head-to-head play, Ultimate Team and a dedicated Mascot mode are also available. Unlike Madden, the focus is on college programs and their stadiums, traditions and changing player classes.

The worldwide launch of the regular game took place on Jul 9, 2026. Deluxe buyers were able to start on Jul 6, and certain MVP+ members on Jul 2. These early access periods were edition perks, not separate native releases.

In 2026, the series also launched for the first time on Windows PC. The PC version was released at the same time as the console versions, rather than being ported later.

Three confirmed native platform versions exist for this base game: Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, it is distributed via EA app, Steam and Epic Games Store. There is no separately confirmed Switch, Switch 2, PS4 or Xbox One version of this game.

EA also mentions a mobile offering for the college football series. This does not mean there is an iOS or Android version of the same PC/console product: mobile products are considered separately. Conversely, the three storefronts on Windows do not indicate different native PC games.

College Football 27 lets you adjust the lineup, routes and defensive reactions before every play. According to the developer descriptions, pass coverage, matchups between receivers and defensive backs, and running routes have been reworked. An optional, timing-based catch system gives players extra control over contested passes and interceptions.

Plays can be adjusted to the opposing formation before the snap. Using the Training and Skill mode, individual plays can be practised outside a full game. Which tactic succeeds also depends on individual athletes and the specific situation.

Alongside the Standard Edition, there is a Deluxe Edition and bundles with Madden NFL 27. Some of these bundles include extra Ultimate Team content, virtual currency or early unlocks. They are not a new platform version and do not automatically expand the scope of the actual football simulation system.

The PC store page lists optional in-game purchases, including virtual currency and random items. The base game already includes the Dynasty, Road to Glory and Mascot Mashup modes, without a separately purchased story DLC. Limited-time Ultimate Team events are not part of the permanent description of the game's scope.

Steam lists Windows 11, DirectX 12 and 50 GB of storage. The minimum is an Intel Core i3-10300 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB RAM, and a GeForce RTX 2060, Radeon RX 5600 XT or Intel Arc A580. The performance target given on the store page is 1080p and 60 FPS at low detail settings.

For high settings at 1440p and 60 FPS, EA recommends at least an Intel Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT or Intel Arc B580. EA recommends an SSD, requires broadband internet and, for Intel Arc graphics cards, requires Resizable BAR to be enabled.

The Dynasty mode combines on-field results with the tasks of running a college program. The new Dynasty Blueprint sets priorities for development. If you meet the expectations of the athletic leadership, you earn Dynasty Points and distribute them across areas such as recruiting, coaches, facilities and the use of NIL deals.

The coaching carousel (Coaching Carousel) has also been expanded. Changes to staff and youth development affect not only the next play, but the direction of upcoming seasons. Teams have different resources and expectations.

In Road to Glory, you follow a single college player through his career. College Football 27 also adds the positions Tight End, Edge Rusher and Free Safety. Characters can be started from new templates or created from scratch.

According to EA, performance on and off the field affects the Draft Stock as well as the Legacy Score. The mode therefore sets different priorities than Dynasty, where long-term roster and program planning is the focus.

Crossplay connects PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the PC versions via EA app, Steam and Epic. EA lists online Dynasty, Road to the College Football Playoff, Ultimate Team and selected friendly matches among the supported modes. Up to 32 people can take part in a cross-platform online Dynasty.

The setting is controlled in-game on PS5 and PC, and in the system settings on Xbox. An EA account and an internet connection are required for cross-platform play. Important: according to official information, the Ultimate Team auction houses remain separated between platforms, even though crossplay is possible in matches.

With the Team Builder, players can create their own college teams and parts of their look. The Dynasty mode integrates these programs into longer-term management. EA describes additional options for stadiums, stands and the sound on game day.

Such customisation features should be distinguished from the licensed standard teams. Your own team look is a lasting part of the game's tools, regardless of short-term online events or specific Ultimate Team packs.

The simulation doesn't just show the quirks of different colleges through uniforms. Stadium announcements, entrance traditions, mascots, fan chants and light shows are meant to create a distinct home-game atmosphere. EA has described additional chants and fan banners, along with reworked presentation elements.

The dynamic weather can change during a game. Rain and other conditions are therefore not just a fixed backdrop of the chosen stadium. Commentary and presentation have also been expanded for this release.

The Mascot Mashup mode replaces regular team lineups with playable college mascots. According to EA, more than 120 mascots are available. Instead of realistic player management, the focus is on exaggerated matchups with eleven characters per team.

The mode is part of the base game. It can be clearly separated from the long-term Dynasty career and the individual development in Road to Glory.

According to EA, the first native Windows version offers the same gameplay content as the console version, plus extra graphics controls. These include ultrawide support, HDR, frame rate control and separate settings for gameplay and cutscenes. On suitable hardware, ray tracing for lighting is also available.

The official system requirements require Windows 11. The existence of ultrawide or ray tracing does not mean that every offered hardware delivers the same frame rates. EA lists separate target values for low and high presets on Steam.

The Standard Edition is the standalone base game. Deluxe and cross-game bundles with Madden NFL 27 include extra digital items or currency and in some cases grant earlier access to the game. The Kickoff Bundle combines the standard editions of both football games, but it is not another native college football title.

If you are looking for the Dynasty, Road to Glory or Mascot Mashup modes, you do not need a separate complete edition for them. EA notes that Ultimate Team includes optional in-game purchases and random content. Such currencies are not equated with permanent DLC content.
