Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is a puzzle adventure from Coin Crew Games that combines escape room challenges with a freely explorable school campus. The sequel expands the predecessor's fixed puzzle rooms with paths, buildings, hidden passages and side tasks that already invite thought between lessons.

The entire campaign can be played alone or with two players. Online co-op and local split-screen are available alongside an optional mode without time pressure. Publisher is iam8bit Presents. Native versions are announced for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School releases on Nov 5, 2026 for PC and PlayStation 5. Coin Crew Games confirms the PS5 date on the PlayStation Blog. Steam also lists this day for the PC version.

A 2026 release is announced for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. A playable demo is already available on Steam.

Confirmed native platforms are Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Microsoft Store product page explicitly lists both Xbox console generations alongside PC. PlayStation 5 is a separate additional version, not the Xbox version via compatibility.

For the Xbox release, Microsoft has announced Xbox Play Anywhere and a Game Pass release from day one. The store page also lists cross-platform co-op and cross-generation Xbox multiplayer. However, this does not imply a general crossplay commitment for the new PS5 version. PC is also announced via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The sequel's escape rooms combine search, observation and logic tasks with mechanical obstacles. Items and clues from the surroundings must be combined to pass exams. Some rooms use traps and dangerous chasms as an extra challenge.

The tasks are not just a sequence of completed rooms. Further puzzles and paths appear on the campus, so exploration and lessons are more closely connected than in the predecessor.

The PC version requires at least Windows 11, an Intel Core i5-8400, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB graphics memory. Installation requires 5 GB of free storage space. A Ryzen 7 2700 and a GeForce RTX 3060 with 16 GB RAM are recommended.

On Steam, German on-screen text and subtitles as well as English voice audio are listed.

Between lessons, you can explore the academy freely. Buildings, hidden tunnels, secret paths and extra tasks make up a game world that rewards close observation. Not every task starts behind a locked door.

The open structure is meant to connect larger puzzles and smaller side tasks. Exploration is therefore part of progress and not just the way to the next escape room.

The entire campaign can be played alone or with a second person. Coin Crew Games offers local split-screen and online co-op. Steam and Xbox both support both modes; the Xbox store page lists two players for each.

For Xbox and PC, Microsoft mentions cross-platform co-op. On Xbox, players from different console generations can also play together. Coin Crew Games has not yet announced such a connection between PlayStation 5 and Xbox or PC.

With the optional No-Timer mode, you can tackle the puzzles without a countdown. This lets you examine clues at your leisure and discuss them together.

The option is announced as a permanent game setting. If you prefer the classic time-limited challenge, you can play with countdown.

The campaign investigates secrets surrounding the founding of Escape Academy. New teachers and familiar faces from the first game accompany the story.

Side quests expand the characters' storylines. Newcomers should also be able to follow the new story without prior knowledge. Musician Doseone is composing again for the game.

The demo for Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is already available on Steam. The full PC and PS5 version releases on Nov 5, 2026.

For the Xbox release, Microsoft has announced inclusion in Game Pass at launch. Xbox Play Anywhere links purchases across Microsoft's PC and console versions. The PS5 version is not part of this purchase model.
