What is Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Iceland?

Iceland expands the drivable map of Euro Truck Simulator 2 to include Iceland. Players take on freight jobs on the volcanic island and drive between small towns, coastal villages and remote businesses. The expansion requires the base game.

The landscape ranges from lava fields and glaciers to black beaches and waterfalls. Instead of a dense motorway network, the focus is on long country roads and driving around the island.

Gameplay

The Iceland map takes trucks along long country roads, through small settlements and past changing natural landscapes. On some bridges, the road is only wide enough for one direction of travel. There, drivers must watch for oncoming traffic and wait if necessary.

Exploration and delivery runs use the vehicle and company systems of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Reykjavík, Akureyri and the Ring Road

The map includes 14 cities and settlements, including Reykjavík and Akureyri. A central link is the Ring Road, which runs around the island. Away from the larger towns, small settlements and lonely stretches shape the route.

Along the routes are recreated natural sights such as the Goðafoss waterfall, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the Þingvellir area.

Weather, northern lights and day length

Volcanic landscapes, glaciers, steep coastlines and black sand flats shape the road scenery. SCS also recreates the island's changing day length. Under suitable conditions, the northern lights can appear in the night sky.

Single-lane bridges

Some roads cross narrow bridges where vehicles from both directions cannot fit at the same time. The crossings therefore require more attention than ordinary two-lane roads. SCS has recreated various concrete and steel bridges for this.
