Platforms

The expansion is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and requires the respective version of the main game. The PS5 version is part of the native port from 2024 and is not merely the PS4 version running via backward compatibility. On Switch 2, Far Harbor is included in the Anniversary Edition along with the other official add-ons. A separately sold Switch 2 DLC version is therefore not required.

Gameplay

Far Harbor adds a large island with its own quests, dangerous waters, decaying facilities and new settlement sites. The radioactive fog shapes both the atmosphere and the daily life of the islanders. There are also new enemies, weapons and armor. Key choices can fundamentally change the relationship between the factions.

The story without spoilers

A job from Nick Valentine's detective agency leads to the missing Kasumi Nakano. The search brings you into contact with the Far Harbor settlement, the Children of Atom and the Synth community Acadia. Each group pursues its own goals. The conflict raises the question of whether and under what conditions the communities can live together.

Three factions and their conflicts

The residents of Far Harbor protect their settlement with technology against the radioactive fog. The Children of Atom worship radiation and are in conflict with them. In Acadia, Synths search for a secluded place to live. The player's choices influence how these opposing sides are resolved.

New creatures and gear

Enemies adapted to the harsh island wait along the coast. Bethesda names the huge Fog Crawler, Angler and Gulper, among others. New equipment includes a harpoon gun, a lever-action repeater and the Radium Rifle. The additional weapons expand combat options without replacing Fallout 4's base system.
