DLCs and expansions
The Lost Civilization Adventure Pack adds a jungle area, arena battles, more characters, enemies and equipment to For The King. It is separate add-on content for the base game. Other adventures such as Dungeon Crawl, Frozen Expanse or Into The Deep are part of the game and should not be confused with a standalone sequel.

Turn-based combat with a luck factor
Combat runs in turns and uses a dice-inspired system. Weapons and abilities have different hit chances and effects. Choosing suitable characters and equipment affects whether an attack reliably hits or a difficult fight escalates.

Focus points and risk
Focus points can improve the odds of actions. Because this resource is limited, spending it is most worthwhile on decisive hits, dangerous traps or difficult paths. Resting spots and certain items help replenish it.

Classes and party composition
Characters have different strengths in defense, ranged combat, magic and support. Smith, Hunter, Scholar and Minnesinger are among the classes available at the start. A balanced team can make up for the weaknesses of individual fighters, while specialized groups depend more on suitable terrain and their equipment.

Co-op for three players
For The King can be played alone or locally or online with up to three people. Each person controls part of the adventuring party. A shared route saves time, while separate paths can open up additional locations. In difficult fights, however, it helps when the characters support each other.

Campaigns and additional game modes
Alongside the main story, standalone adventures such as Frozen Expanse, Into The Deep and Dungeon Crawl are available. Hildebrant’s Cellar focuses on dungeon trips that last as long as possible. Gold Rush changes the usual co-op flow through competition for loot.

Lore Store and replay value
Achievements and completed tasks earn Lore points. These can be spent between runs to unlock more character classes, items and encounters. Because the world map, quests and events vary, a new run does not play out the same as the previous one.

Language and controls
On PC, For The King offers German and English on-screen text, among other languages. Combat is turn-based, so decisions about routes, equipment and resources don't have to be made under time pressure. The console versions support gamepad controls.
