What is Gley Lancer: Overdrive?
Gley Lancer: Overdrive is a full remake of the shoot-'em-up Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer, released for the Mega Drive in 1992. Nalua Studio is rebuilding the graphics, animations and music from scratch, but keeping Lucia Cabrock, the Gley Lancer ship and the fast horizontal shooter core.

Release
Gley Lancer: Overdrive is due in 2027. An exact release date has not yet been given. At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, the remake was playable in public for the first time.

Gameplay
All eleven stages of the original are rebuilt with new pixel art, newly arranged music and more dynamic environments. The TGS demo lets players loop through three areas and already shows the new core mechanic Overdrive.
Overdrive first creates a protective field around the ship and makes Lucia invulnerable for a short time. The barrier can then be fired in a chosen direction. Defeated enemies leave behind cores that increase the score multiplier, turning the system into a risk-and-reward mechanic.
The configurable Gunner satellites also return. Planned modes include Score Attack, Boss Rush, Speedrunner, 1CC, Gunner Mode, Core Pickup Run and a dedicated bullet hell mode for modern platforms.
