What is How to Fish?

How to Fish is a physics-based fishing game by Dazed Games for one to four players. After a boating accident, the group lands on a small island and has to work out its way home. A simple fishing trip quickly turns into a mix of fishing, fighting, gear hunting and deliberately chaotic physics.

The basic idea is simple: catches bring money, money brings better gear, and new gear opens the way to harder tasks. The game can be played alone, but is clearly designed for shared online co-op chaos.

Gameplay

The gameplay runs on a direct loop: catch fish and other sea creatures, sell the catch and invest the money earned in better rods, gear and weapons. Quests and boss fights unlock further islands with more dangerous creatures and better gear.

Besides normal fishing, How to Fish also rewards rare variants, trick shots and riskier actions. The game combines fishing simulation, action and physics-based situations that regularly break out of the planned flow in co-op.

Progression, islands and bosses

The campaign is structured around quests and boss fights. Success on one island opens the way to further areas, where new creatures and stronger gear appear. Rather than a purely free fishing sandbox, this creates a clear progression curve of catching, selling, upgrading and moving on.

Rare fish variants also encourage you to search already known areas again. If you don't just follow the direct way home, you can work towards rare catches and better gear.

Co-op and physics-based chaos

How to Fish supports online co-op with up to four players. The physics are not just a visual effect but a central part of the humour and the gameplay moments: catches, weapons and movements react to each other so that simple tasks quickly turn into unpredictable group situations.

If you prefer to play alone, you can also complete the progression in singleplayer. In co-op, the gameplay is instead split across several players who fish, fight and earn money together for new gear.
